HEALTH BOARD members at Ayrshire and Arran cut their wage bill by one percent last year - but still ended up sharing more than £1 million between just SEVEN members.

And chief executive Wai-yan Hatton also even accepted a £10,000 boost in her package, bringing her to earnings between £145,000 to £150,000.

But top earner was medical director Bob Masterton, who netted around £240,000 for the single year.

The figures were published as part of an investigation into top sector health board pay and also revealed that our health board last year paid its own director of public health £35,000 more than the exact same role in Lothian.

However, Aysrhire and Arran executive director of finance Derek Lindsay told the Times that health board members' salaries were based on evaluations from a national scale.
