BAILEY BRIDGE DELAYED

IT was revealed that the cold snap has delayed the opening of the new Bailey Bridge by over a month.

It is understand that North Ayrshire Council, along with businesses on the other side of the River Irvine, had hoped that the new bridge (pictured) would be open in time for the busy Easter holiday period at the start of April.

But the extreme conditions have had an effect on the construction work and, while the majority of the structure has been put in place, the severe cold has meant the concrete raodway - expected to begin before Christmas - was not started on time.
