A 66-YEAR-OLD Kilwinning woman was woken up by the sound of a teen smashing her plant pots, say police.

And when she tried to get him to leave her garden he began hurling abuse at her, it is also claimed.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at Kilkeran in Kilwinning, when the woman was woken up after midnight on Saturday and looked out her window to see a 19-year-old standing beside the broken remains of her plant pot.

At this point, officers said, she began banging on her window in a bid to get him to leave her property - but was met with a mouthful of abuse.

A police spokesman said: "He started shouting and swearing at her, calling her derogatory names."

The woman contacted the police and when officers arrived they said the teenager, from Kilwinning, refused to stop shouting and swearing.

The youth, who is also alleged to have been on bail at the time, was detained for a court appearance.
