A LAWTHORN man is accused of driving his car into somebody's home while around three times over the drink driving limit.

Police say they were called out to a home in Lordlaw gardens, Lawthorn, at around 3am on Wednesday, February 10,after a car collided with a house there.

The owner of the home told police he knew who the driver was and the officers subsequently went to the home of a 50-year-old man.

On speaking to him, they claim, they could smell alcohol and so he was taken for a breath test at Saltcoats Police Officer which revealed that he was around three times over the legal limit.

He has been charged and is set to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.
