REDEVELOPMENT PETITIONS FALTER
A PETITION to halt plans for a massive development and new Meadow stadium in Irvine's East Road has hit the buffers at the Scottish Parliament.
But Scottish Government Ministers will still discuss if the development should go ahead - while hammering out a new policy for building on open spaces.
And food chain Saiinsbury's, whose plans for a site elsewhere in Irvine are currently under consideration, have ruled themselves out of the of occupying the supermarket space which is also part of the East Road plan.
Their spokesperson told the Times: "That site is not right for us, mainly because of the parking and the roads."
See the Times this week for the full story.
