HARD-WORKING volunteers at the Fullarton Community Centre are determined to keep their vital council funding after NAC announced that it could withdraw its support of all community centres.
They said: "If our centre disappears there will be nothing down here at all for the people. We've got to stay here for the community.
Fullarton Community Association have only two years left in their agreement with NAC that guarantees them enough cash for two staff and insurance.
But, after hearing that the council may make up for massive budget cuts by pulling out of community centres, the group has vowed to try and secure the future of the hall.
In a heartfelt statement to the Times, association chairwoman Donna Fitzpatrick said some local volunteers were giving up 40 and 50 hours of their time to keep the centre running because of a complete lack of other facilities in Fullarton, which does not even have a swing-park.
