FORGOTTEN IRVINE MEADOW striker Gavin Friels has thanked the fans for the raptuous reception they gave him on return to action for the first time in FIFTEEN months.
Friels came on for the last 15 minutes of the 3-1 home Stagecoach Super League Premier Division victory against Vale of Clyde and now hopes to repay the faith of the fans and boss Chris Strain by helping the team win in the Citylink Scottish Junior Cup for the first time in 36 years.
The experienced former Ayr United, Auchineleck Talbot and Pollok target man, sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury, told Sporttimes: "I really would like to thank the fans for the reception they gave me at the game on Saturday. It was nice to get some action after such a long time. It has been a long recovery process."
