'Please don't shut our club'
MEMBERS of the Irvine Indoor Bowling Club said they are furious that the replacement for the Magnum will not include anywhere for them to play bowls.
Club office manager Andrea Campbell, who has worked at the Magnum-based club for more than 35 years, said the move will mean leave hundreds of pensioners are left sitting at home watching TV in stead of socialising through their favourite sport.
"We feel as if we are being put out to pasture," she said.
"They are talking about building another complex with no bowling facility and telling us that our members will need to travel to Ardrossan and elsewhere.
"But a lot of our members are pensioners, they can't travel far and pay the other clubs' higher prices. They just won't play bowls."
