Carrick demolition faces final deadline
THE DEMOLITION of the Carrick may go ahead at the end of the month and Not be postponed until May - despite what Australian news reports claims.
Stories on national network ABC News claim the historic clipper will be kept safe while museum bosses await a funding announcement from the Scottish Government that would see the boat taken to South Australia.
But Scottish Maritime Museum spokesperson Jim Tilderslay explained that dismantling of the 145-year-old ship would only be delayed if the Irvine museum could be assured that the hold-up would not cost them money.
He told the Times: "We are looking for reassurances that we are not going to have financial problems as a result of the delay."
