MUSICIANS and promoters from across Ayrshire will gather in Irvine this week in a bid to transform the area's music scene.

The Ayrshire Music Alliance was formed earlier this year as a reaction to a perceived decline in Ayrshire's music - with bands forsaking Irvine and Kilwinning venues to play in Glasgow.

Irvine promoter Steven Carson, Kilwinning musician Colin Hunter, radio host Eddy Gemmell and new Ayrshire label Wrecked Chord Records boss Jim Gibb are at the heart of the new push to make Ayrshire music vibrant once again - beginning with a meeting of minds at the HAC on Thursday.
