HUNDREDS of struggling parents from Irvine and Kilwinning will be forced to quit their jobs as NAC are set to rocket the price of their out of school care to make savings.
If the dramatic changes are approved, the cost of after-school care will be hiked by an additional 50 percent, while staff are axed and one Irvine school area will have its service withdrawn completely.
The council have admitted that pressured parents will need to quit jobs because they can't afford to pay, while some kids with special needs and others on the child protection register will also feel the impact of reduced services.
Corporate Director of Education Carol Kirk said: "This will put financial pressures on parents. Some will be unlikely to find alternative childcare and may have to give up work."
