IRENE CLEANS UP WITH AVON PRIZE

A cleaner from Irvine was 'made-up' when she found out she'd won a competition to get her mortgage paid for a year - by cosmetic company Avon.

Irene Aubert, 47, was picked at random from more than 50,000 entrants across the UK and will now have the monthly instalments on her Dreghorn home taken care of for the next 12 months.

She told the Times how her and husband Bernard, a road worker, didn't tell anyone to begin with - because they thought it might be a wind-up.
