An angry history buff has blasted a property owner for padlocking the gates of a historic churchyard in Irvine.

The irate graveyard enthusiast claims that the new owner of the former Mission hall has barred him and other history hunters from the site they used to enjoy visiting, which he claims is "unfair".

Controversy has haunted the site, just north of Kirkhill in Perceton, since the new owner applied to convert the old hall into a three bedroom house, sparking a raft of complaints from anxious archaeologists.
