A sick Irvine thug who beat up a frail pensioner at his home and robbed him of £2000 has been jailed for five-and-a-half years.

Thomas Gilheaney, 28, threatened to kill George Black during the attack in Kilmarnock in April.

He was caught after being found with a rare Zambian banknote which he also stole from the 86-year-old.
