Council workers in Irvine and Kilwinning could be set to strike after bosses announced they would be effectively imposing pay cuts on staff across Scotland.

Leaders of Scotland's 32 councils, including North Ayrshire's David O'Neill, decided to impose a three-year pay cut on 150,000 staff across the country.

The move follows the union's rejection of COSLA's original pay offer of a three year deal of 1% in the first year, 0% in the second and 0.5% in the third.
