An Irvine man has been sentenced to prison for stealing less than £5 worth of moisturiser.

David Mackay, of Greenside Avenue, was in Boots chemist in the Rivergate Centre on February 22 when he made the theft.

Mackay, 33, entered the shop at 3.40pm and was witnessed taking the packet of moisturiser from the shelf, putting it in his pocket and walking out.
