Police cover at Crosshouse Hospital has been welcomed - following a wave of violent attacks.

Earlier in the year we reported how Ayrshire and Arran had no police presence despite more than 900 assaults carried out on staff at their hospitals in the past four years.

But now, in an initiative jointly funded by Strathclyde Police and the NHS, staff are said to be happy with patrols at A and E departments at the weekends.
