GREATEST GRAN IN IRVINE IS NOW 100
A NURSING home in Dreghorn had double cause for celebration last week - as one of the residents turned 100 while another celebrated her diamond wedding.
Mrs Gemima Wylie celebrated her 100th birthday on December 28, with a visit from her family and local dignitries.
The great-great grandmother, who has three children, seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, was born on December 28, 1911 and enjoyed very good health up until three years ago - when she broke her hip and took up residence at Shalom Nursing Home.
Meanwhile, on the same day the Dreghorn nursing home enjoyed the diamond wedding celebration of Tom and Margery Aitken.
Tom is originally from Irvine and Margery from Kilwinning.
They have two sons and five grandchildren.
