WANT TO BECOME A LOCAL COUNCILLOR?
PROSPECTIVE local government candidates are being invited to a briefing on the upcoming elections.
Planning for the election, which will be held on Thursday, 3 May, 2012, is already well underway.
A total of 30 councillors will be elected across eight multi-member wards - each ward returning either three or four Elected Members.
Elma Murray, the Returning Officer for North Ayrshire, said: "A great deal of planning goes into local government elections and we are working hard to ensure the election goes as smoothly as possible.
"It is important that prospective candidates are aware of the process they will be involved in. I am, therefore, inviting them to attend a briefing on arrangements for the election in North Ayrshire.
"The briefing will be held on Saturday 18 February 2012. Where political parties have already selected their own candidates they will be invited to the briefing, as will any independent candidates coming forward.
"Anyone considering standing as a candidate in any of the eight electoral wards, who has not already done so, should get in touch with the Election Office to ensure that they are invited to the briefing."
Prospective candidates should contact the Council's Election Office to ensure that they receive an invitation to attend the briefing.
