KILWINNING is to get 44 new council houses as part of a £73m cash injection from North Ayrshire Council.
Council chiefs are proposing to build the new homes after allocating more than £26m to investing in housing across Ayrshire.
The cash is from the council's capital budget, which funds one-off investments and refurbishment programmes.
As well as this cash boost, an extra £47m, from the council's general housing revenue budget will be ploughed into existing housing across the area - adding up to more than £73m between the two.
Finance chief Laura Friel revealed the plans during this year's budget announcement on Thursday.
As well as the new Kilwinning homes, there are proposals to revamp existing sheltered housing in Dreghorn, the Times can reveal.
