IRVINE was the scene of a presidential visit over the weekend, as plans for the European Karate Championships begin to take shape.

The 4th WUKF European Karate Championships for Seniors and Veterans - recently announced to be sponsored by Irvine Bay Regeneration Company - are coming to the Magnum Leisure Centre in June.

As part of preparations, WUKF President Osvaldo Messissas and Vice-President Liviu Cruissan arrived in town on Friday for a busy weekend of meetings and planned events in the area.
