SCOTTISH Water have defended themselves after a local councillor accused them of 'deliberately flooding' Irvine footpaths.

The controversy centres on an area of the Low Green where Scottish Water contractors have been pumping out water from an excavation.

Now Irvine councillor Matt Brown has issued a letter to the corporation - forwarded to the media - in which he blasts their behaviour as "totally unacceptable" and demands immediate action.
