PLANS are underway to persuade businesses in Irvine to pull together and re-invent the High Street.

Volunteer group Irvine Action hope to attract funding to the town by applying for Irvine to become a Business Improvement District (BID).

Irvine Action chair Andy Tremble said: "Irvine High Street is depressing - it is full of bookmakers - there is nothing to entice. There are lots of vacant shops."
