IRVINE Housing Association staff welcomed new Riverside Chief Executive, Carol Matthews to Irvine on Tuesday 13 March. Carol, originally from Glasgow was given a truly Scottish welcome with some Burns poetry courtesy of Technical Inspector, John Watson and a traditional Scots breakfast roll.

Staff introduced Carol to Irvine with a slideshow and presentation on the history of the Association and its homes, an overview of the various departments and services provided by the Association and the charity fundraising activities organised by staff.

Carol then visited Pennyburn, Kilwinning where she saw the progress to date with the decanting of the Pennyburn Flats and the plans for a wider regeneration project. Then it was off for a tour of The Playz with members of the PRYDE Shadow Board who were the driving force in converting a former derelict pub into a vibrant community facility in Pennyburn. Tenants and community representatives gathered at The Playz to welcome Carol and have lunch with her.

Ann Robertson, Tenant and Community Representative was there to meet Carol, "The afternoon went very well and I was impressed that Carol took time to speak to everyone that had come out to meet her."

After lunch Paul Hillard, Managing Director, Housing Officer, Pamela Johnstone and Development Officer, Leanne Lynch accompanied Carol on a tour of the Association's properties in the Irvine area, and potential development opportunities.

Paul was delighted to give Carol a first-hand experience of the Association, "We are extremely proud of our communities, services and the staff that work with us, and were delighted to give Carol a warm welcome and to allow her the opportunity to be part of Irvine HA for the day."

Carol expressed her thanks to all involved in welcoming her to Irvine, "Thank you so much for the fantastic introduction to Irvine HA and all the effort that went into making this both memorable and amusing for me.  I really appreciated the work that went into the morning presentation and the stock tour around Irvine.

"I was pleased to be able to spend some time getting to know Irvine's tenants and community representatives and would like to thank everyone who took the time to meet me over lunch at the superb The Playz centre.

" My visit to Irvine HA has made a lasting impression!"
