KILWINNING Sports Club's multi-million pound development will go ahead after finance bosses finally approved funding.

The club's future had been uncertain over the last 13-months following a year-long delay in the decision over finances.

Last February North Ayrshire Council had agreed to hand over £642,000 towards the Pennyburn club's £3.2m 'Legacy Project'.

However, after the club revised their plans and reduced the overall cost of the project to just over £2.1m, the council slashed its contribution to £500,000.

That figure was finally given the green light at a meeting between finance bosses last week, with a list of attached conditions.
