PEOPLE across North Ayrshire are being urged to become foster parents to the scores of older children getting left behind in the care system.

North Ayrshire Council has launched a new recruitment campaign during Foster Care Fortnight to encourage more people to consider fostering older children and teenagers.

Currently there are 24 foster carers in Irvine and Kilwinning, but council bosses are hoping that Foster Care Fortnight - which takes place between 14 to 25 May - will encourage more people to sign up.
