IRVINE historian Neil Stirrat has spoken this week about living with cancer - and how a new care programme from the council has helped him maintain his independence.

Eight-year-old Neil, a great grandfather and long time contributor to the Times, spent almost a month in hospital after being diagnosed with bowel cancer.
