IRVINE MP Brian Donohoe is set to rebel against his party's leader and vote against a law allowing gay couples to marry.

The Westminster Government is planning to redefine marriage to allow same sex couples to tie the knot.

Labour leader Ed Milliband has voiced his support publicly for equal marriage rights for gay couples but Mr Donohoe has no intention of adopting the party line.

He said: "I am, of course, against any form of discrimination. However, I also believe that marriage is a term used to describe the joining of a man and a woman only."
