A STEWARTON woman has admitted falsely claiming £13,000 in benefits.
Emma Young, of Springwell Place, made the bogus claims between January 2013 and February this year.
The 28-year-old firstly admitted gaining £6,000 she wasn’t entitled to between January 28, 2013 and January 30, 2015 by making a false representation to the Department of Work & Pensions.
Young lied to obtain Income Support by stating she was a single parent with no income. In reality, she was married and living with a partner who works.
Between March 1, 2013 and February 1 this year, Young also made a false statement to East Ayrshire Council to gain £7,000 in benefit by using the same lie.
Young appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and pled guilty. Sentence was adjourned until January.
