IF YOU were one of the 2,500 festive shoppers that descended upon Stewarton on Thursday, December 15, you"ll know what a success the town"s first ever Yuletide Street Festival was!

With a whole host of entertainment on every street corner, everyone enjoyed some festive frolics whilst catching up on some last-minute, late-night shopping. The undeniable talk of the town was Thirst coffee shop"s life-size nativity scene, complete with star, stable and real animals including a donkey, two sheep and a Shetland pony!!

Mandy Campbell, owner of sweetie shop Candy Chace, and one of the organisers of the evening was delighted with the response from traders and customers and commented 'Everyone who came to the yuletide evening enjoyed a fabulous night out.

The town looked great and the community of Stewarton did themselves proud - turning out in full force to support the event.

'Everyone who took part enjoyed a roaring trade all night long, and we were all delighted to welcome so many new faces into our shops as well, of course, to see so many of our loyal and regular customers. It"s definitely something we"d all like to plan to repeat next year!'

Community policeman PC Mark Lees was also full of praise. He added 'Stewarton"s first ever Yuletide Street Festival was a tremendous success.

We were delighted with how smoothly the evening went and having drafted in six additional policemen for the night, we were able to work in co-operation with traders to provide a safe and trouble-free evening, that the whole of the community was able to enjoy.'

Local traders, clubs and police are already thinking about this year"s Yuletide Festival, so if you are interested in getting involved then please contact Mandy Campbell on 01560 480673 or Pete Prosser on 01560 484381.
