Bullies target victims on Bebo
POLICE are looking into claims that bullies at Stewarton Academy are using a popular internet site to set up and abuse victims.
Two 13-year-old Academy pupils are accused of beating up another Academy pupil after comments and personal details encouraging an attack were posted on networking website Bebo.
The alleged attack took place after school as the 14-year-old victim took his dog for a walk.
Stewarton councillor Jim O'Neill claims other pupils have been targeted on the website, including another youngster who has been assaulted.
He said: 'It is shocking and takes the whole scale of bullying to another level.
`One of my constituent's sons, who is in second year, was walking his dog with a friend who is also 14, when they were cornered by a group of pupils at the same school and assaulted.
`The constituent said these older pupils had created a site on Bebo which had photographs, names and addresses of younger children and said they were targets for this particular group.
`The pupil who was assaulted was on the site. I have also learned another pupil, who is in third year, and was also identified on this site, has subsequently been beaten up.`
