A sick Twitter troll is remaining defiant after making cruel jibes about former Rangers star Fernando Ricksen’s battle with motor neuron disease (MND).

The user, @Dale_Lovell_97, believed to be from the Edinburgh area, made the comment on Saturday, moments after Rangers were rocked by Hibs at Ibrox as Neil Lennon’s visitors snatched a 3-2 victory over Pedro Caixinha’s side.

One user of the site had said earlier that morning: “Not a single doubt that we aren’t going to beat hibs today.”

Dale, aged 20, retorted: “Fernando Ricksen had more chance walking today than yous did beating us.”

Glasgow Times:

He followed the cruel message with a series of crying-with-laughter emojis.

Ibrox champ Ricksen was diagnosed with the debilitating illness in 2013.

While at Rangers, the 41-year-old won two league titles, two Scottish Cups, and three league cups.

The Dutchman - who now lives in Valencia, Spain - regularly takes trips back to Ibrox and, in March, made headlines after receiving a standing ovation ahead of a match between Rangers and England legends to raise money for his MND foundation.

Understandably, Dale’s message did not go down well with many.

One said: “Your a horrible we b*****d.” Dale responded with the acronym “Ly,” which stands for “love you.”

Another user said: “That’s f*****g too far mate,” whom Dale then went on to goad with a series of crying-face emojis.

Since receiving widespread criticism, Dale said of his tweet last night: “Hahahhaa funniest.”

Police Scotland has said it has not received any reports relating to the tweet, according to The Scottish Sun, however, cops did reportedly say their specialist unit would be investigating any comments made online following the game “in due course.”

Since that tweet, another one of Dale’s sick posts from 2015 has been receiving fresh condemnation today.

It shows a wheelchair-bound Rangers supporter holding a scarf reading: “We don’t do walking away.”

Dale shared the image in February of that year, adding: “That’s cause you canny walk.”

Glasgow Times:

One man replied early this morning: “From a fellow Hibs supporter, that’s a disgusting tweet! God forbid something happens to you or a relative!”

Another comment said: “I bet your mum’s proud of you.”

“Joke or not that’s a low blow. Let’s hope you don’t end up like this one day,” said another, with other commenters labelling it “vile.”
