YOU could say that last week"s euro elections were something of a bad day in the office for Labour.
North Ayrshire stood out as a perfect example of the woes facing the party. A massive swing which places the likes Katy Clark"s North Ayrshire seat in jeopardy.
Brian Donohoe has a large enough majority to see off a similar level of swing, but would be a wee bit lonesome if it does indeed come to pass.
Now euro elections are not what you would call a barometer for a general election. But it must be worrying times for all involved in the party of red.
More worrying for the rest of us is the election of the BNP, albeit in the North of England.
Even in North Ayrshire they managed to secure almost a thousand votes. Now I don"t know about you, but I don"t truly believe that their view of the British is anything other than an anglo-saxoncentric one, so the spin they put on their fascist views up here shouldn"t really take hold. Alas, the state that the country has found itself plays into this party"s hands.
No doubt some of the politicians who so spectacularly failed will use the BNP as a distraction to their own shortcomings. It doesn"t make what they say about them less true though.
Of course, this is all just the lies of the media according to the BNP. But be warned, Hitler"s rise to power wasn"t as swift as some make out.
