DRINK DRIVER SMASHED INTO TRAFFIC LIGHTS
A CAR mechanic who drunkenly smashed his vehicle into a set of traffic lights is having to fork out for the damage he caused. Bryan Boylan, of Hillcrest Place, Kilwinning was almost three times the limit when he crashed into a set of temporary lights last month.

A MAN has been accused of injuring his pregnant partner after speeding off while she was halfway in his car. Colin James Graham, 21, is reported to have driven off while his pregnant partner Heather Campbell was only partially inside the vehicle, holding on to both the car itself and to Graham.

AN IRVINE man thought he had bought the perfect gift to make his wife's Valentine's Day a wee bit special when he picked up a cute teddy bear. But instead of firing cupid's arrows, Rodger Walker's present ended up stabbing his wife's hand with a sharp three-inch needle which had been left stuck to its paw.

PAIR'S BROKE INTO DUMP FOR TV REMOTE IN MIDDLE OF NIGHT
TWO men sparked a considerable police operation - including dog handlers - when they decided to go looking for a TV remote control in the middle of the night. Brian Almond, 43, and Kevin Murphy, 48, had decided that they needed to get the remote control for a television. Unfortunately for the pair, they decided to go check the Irvine council amenity site as they drove past it in the middle of the night.

AN IRVINE man caused chaos by driving his car wildly and smashing into another car - then later tried to tell police officers his car had been stolen. Roger Seymour, of Rosebank Gardens, had maintained a plea of not guilty to a series of charges, but was found guilty off all five at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.

MAN DENIES TRYING TO ENTICE GIRL INTO CAR
A MAN has denied trying to lure a young girl into his car in Irvine. Mohammed Imran Ellahi, 29, is charged with attempting to entice the girl, then aged 15, into his car in Livingstone Terrace, placing her in a state of fear and alarm.

IRVINE comic Billy Kirkwood has admitted that playing before a hometown crowd leaves him terrified. The 30-year-old had a fantastic 2009 - performing in the US, becoming the official weekend MC at the Stand Comedy Club and warming up 2000 Santas at the Edinburgh Fun Run. And despite hosting Sidesplitters Comedy Club at the HAC, Billy told the Times that the thought of performing a preview of his upcoming Glasgow Comedy Festival show left him with sweaty palms.

A KILWINNING councillor banned from the roads for two-and-a-half years after refusing to give police a breath sample could be forced to resign. Ryan Oldfather, 26, was also fined £1100 after admitting careless driving by crashing into a lamppost.

A SERIAL fraudster who embezzled £130,000 from an Irvine firm will have to explain why he has failed to pay a penny back to them. Accountant Robin Sim Jenkins, a prisoner at Bowhouse jail, admitted scamming his employers at Plastic Mouldings Ltd, Ailsa Road, between April 2000 and February 2006 to the tune of £130,000.
