Scottish Junior Cup First Round IRVINE VICTORIA 1 CAMELON 7 VICS were surprisingly blown away by Camelon in the second half after a very close opening 45 minutes.

The first half was a close affair and Vics had the first chance in 20 minutes but David Kane saved from David Adams.

Camelon went ahead in 26 minutes when Gregor Fotheringham set up David Grant who netted. Three minutes later Grant turned provider, setting up Callum Scott who netted with a low drive.

Ten minutes from the interval, Vics pulled a goal back with a superb effort by Jordan Craig, who sent a 25-yard shot into the net at the far post.

The hosts almost grabbed an equaliser in 43 minutes, David Wilson shooting just wide with the keeper beaten.

The East Coast side extended their lead two minutes after the interval when Gregor Fotheringham headed into the net. Two minutes later it was 4-0, David Grant setting up Derek Ure who netted with ease.

Camelon were dominant and it was no surprise when man-of-the match Grant ran across the edge of the box before slotting home.

Seven minutes from time Vics were reduced to 10 men when Darren Russell was sent off for violent conduct.

Two minutes later a free-kick from Camelon’s Callum Scott crashed off the crossbar. Then in 87 minutes a fine save by Chris Lamb from Fotheringham denied Camelon a sixth goal.

Scott headed against the bar a minute later. Then in 89 minutes Camelon added a sixth when Fotheringham smashed home a shot from 20 yards.

Right on full-time the scoring was complete when David Grant picked up a rebound off the referee and rifled an effort into the net.
