DUNDEE 1

KILMARNOCK 2

FORM team Killie stretched their unbeaten run to three games following this well-deserved victory at Dens Park on Saturday.

It's the second time they have won in the City of Discovery with Gary Locke's side victorious by the same scoreline against Dundee United six weeks earlier.

And it avenged a 4-0 home loss against Paul Hartley's hosts on the opening day of the season.

The victory moved them up to eighth spot as they leapfrogged Inverness Caley Thistle following their defeat against St Johnstone.

Locke was impressed with his team's display but feels there is still room for improvement and said: "That was definitely our best away performance of the season. We were excellent for 75 minutes when we controlled the game and scored two good goals.. Then we made it hard for ourselves towards the end and had to rely on Jamie MacDonald's save."

Killie began strongly, taking the game to the hosts and they were rewarded in nine minutes when on-form Northern Ireland international Josh Magennis powerfully headed home a precision cross from Kallum Higginbotham at Scott Bain's near post.

Three minutes after the break the Rugby Park side doubled their advantage with a superbly-worked goal. Rory McKenzxie set up former Ranger Stevie Smith, who sent home a sizzling left-foot drive from 22 yards.

Dundee kept battling and pulled a goal back in 76 minutes when Rhys Healey headed home a Paul McGowan cross.

Top performer for Killie was Higginbotham.

The Rugby Park side on Saturday host a Motherwell side who have Mark McGhee back in charge.
