CLYDEBANK 2

KILWINNING RANGERS 4

VETERAN striker Ian Cashmore bagged his 100th goal for Buffs as they defeated Bankies to soar into sixth spot.

Buffs began well and went ahead in three minutes when Barry Fleeting’s cross into the middle was well taken by Ben Lewis, who out-ran the Bankies centre back pairing, before slotting the ball under goalkeeper Josh Lumsden from a narrow angle.

The visitors pressed well and deservedly notched a second. goal. Patient build up play eventually saw Lewis spring the offside trap, coolly slotting the ball past Lumsden.

Buffs were in cruise control in 39 minutes. A corner-kick from the left was knocked on by Tommy Maitland and the unmarked Isaac Kerr stabbed home.

Just before the break visiting goalie Adam Strain skilfully tipped a thunderous Ryan Holms shot onto the crossbar.

Early in the second period, home substitute Stevie Young latched onto a long pass and cut inside the Buffs defender, before rifling home.

Midway through the half, Young shot home again to set up a grandstand finish.

There was however, to be no remarkable comeback as Kilwinning scored on the break. Jordan Shelvey lost possession and the ball was cleared up field to Ian Cashmore, who burst away from Hashim Cole before slotting in his 100th Kilwinning goal as Buffs continued their impressive run of form.
