IRVINE boxing star Ryan Collins is aiming to notch up his 11th pro victory this Friday.

The Vineburgh ace will head up a big Ayrshire fight night at Ayr Town Hall – the town’s first professional boxing show for 64 years.

The 21-year-old is gearing up to face Latvian journeyman Ivans Levickis (20-21) over six rounds.

Most of Levickis’ wins have come in his native Latvia but the lightweight has previously shared the ring with British prospects Bradley Saunders and Romeo Romaeo.

Collins is on a winning run having defeated journeymen Dean Evans and Qasim Hussain since losing a contentious points decision to Chris Adaway in February.

And the Irvine man hopes a victory will launch him to bigger challenges in 2016.

Speaking to Sporttimes, Collins said: “Levickis is tough he’s got 14 knockouts but most of them have probably been against poor opposition.

“This is probably one of my biggest tests on paper but I need to be beating these kind of guys if I want to move forward.

“I've been boxing better recently picking my shots rather than going out for a fight.

“Romeo Romeao put him (Levickis) away with a body shot so I'm going to stick to my plan and work the body more.”

A raucous Ayrshire crowd will greet Collins when he steps – with almost 100 coming from Irvine alone.

Collins added: “I'm not looking past this guy and hopefully I'll get the win.”

Also on the show, Collins’ Vineburgh gym-mate Jordan Beveridge will make his professional debut against Youssef Al Hamidi (14-79-3) – a former Collins opponent.

Sanquhar's Rhys Pagan, Gary Murray, Shaun McShane and Stephen Ray will also be in action.
