ROARED on by a partisan crowd in Ayr Town Hall on Friday, rejuvenated boxer Ryan Collins racked up his third successive victory.

Now he is setting his sights on fighting for a Scottish title.

Collins, who turns 22 on Thursday, topped the bill in front of more than 400 fans and turned in a superb performance.

He defeated Russian journeyman Mikheil Avakyan 60-55 in a one=sided six round lightweight contest.

It was the 11th win out of 13 for the Irvine Vineburgh ace, who has turned his form around after suffering two defeats last year.

He was delighted with his performance and said: "That was my biggest test so far as Mikheil has a lot experience. I caught him with a few punches early on but he knows the tricks of the trade and managed to hang on. I would say that was my biggest test as Mikheil has bas a lot l of experience. I dominated the fight and won every round. It was great to have so much support, there were 400 fans at the show and a lot of them were from Irvine.

His club colleague Jordan Beveridge also made an impressive debut, defeating Syrian Al Hamedi 39-37 in what was his professional debut.

Now Collins hopes for a crack at national glory and said: "I will talk to my promoters and will hopefully have a chance to fight for a Scottish title in January or February."
