AN IRVINE martial arts ace is celebrating some more major medal success in what has been an outstanding year for him,.
Robert Cooper of Irvine Judo Club competed in the Scottish Judo Championships on Sunday in what was his first senior competition and a step-up in weight.
He battled well and won the bronze medal, after narrowly being beaten for the silver medal in the under 73 kg category. It was was an impressive performance given it was his first event at this level.
Last year he gained his black belt and came third in the Scottish Championships.
This year's event was a step up in weight but Robert competed well.
Instructor Gordon Brawley said: "I am delighted for Robert, he deserves his success."
Irvine Judo Club meet in Parterre Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6.30pm until 8/.30pm.
They welcome children from eight to 16 and adults.
