A DOUBLE from Logan Stevenson helped Dirrans Athletic defeat AFC Ravenscraig away in a West of Scotland Cup Third Round tie.

However it was the Wishaw hosts who began well and took an early lead when their full-back hit a cracking shot into the top corner of the net.

This served as a wake-up call to the Kilwinning side who went on to play much better. And a great move was finished by on-form John Pirrie to square the game.

Dirrans then went 2-1 up when a cross was headed home confidently by Stevenston.

The visitors started the second half strongly and created a lot of chances. They notched goal number three in 55 minutes when Stephen Cochrane blasted home a shot from 30 yards which the keeper should have saved but somehow let in.

By now Dirrans were playing with a lot of confidence and passing really well.

Victory was sealed in style late on when player-boss Jason Stewart crossed to Stevenston to head the ball home.

It was a well-deserved win with the visitors dominating much of the match.
