THERE being a lull in the events being held, some members of jogging group Ron's Runners cast their eyes further to find excuses to run and Sandra Hunter and Sylvia Mulholland certainly dug deep last week but eventually found a novel way to escape the dreich weather when joining some 15 other individuals on a walk jog run at Glen Lion

The route covered some eight miles at the windfarm and the route was described as well signposted. Participants were requested to dress appropriately as some open terrain had to be crossed although some fancy dress was allowed.

The enjoyable day was purely for fun with no times recorded.

On the same day the first training runs at the Beach Park this winter, also took place and members turned out in some numbers.

Preparations for the”first foot” races at Beith on January 2 are well in hand, with a good response from members asking for help. Indeed many hoping to run are also prepared to help during the earlier races .

There are races for all ages from under-11 starting at 11.30am and then at regular intervals until the adults at approximately 12.15pm.

Distances vary with under-11s running almost 1k.

As ages increase so also do the distances until the adults run 4.8 miles. Trophies for both first Male and first Female will be presented. The club hope to attract some new faces to this long held local race.

Once again the normal numbers at the local Park 5k was down from the usual owing to festive priorities.
