NEW Irvine Meadow manager Davie Greig and player/coach Kevin Rutkiewicz aim to get off to a winning start by bringing high-flying Linlithgow Rose crashing back down to earth on Saturday.

Meadow head to Prestonfield to face Rose in the ETHX Energy Scottish Junior Cup Fourth Round with the hosts still on a high after drawing 3-3 with Forfar Athletic in the William Hill Scottish Cup to set up a replay.

Greig, who won back-to-back titles with Blantyre Vics and former Aberdeen and St Johnstone skipper Rutkiewicz were appointed last Tuesday along with coaches Scott Mills and John Petrie and are relishing the challenge.

The manager is looking forward to the tie and said: "Linlithgow's result on Saturday was great for Junior football. It's a massive match for us at the weekend and we are going there to win. The players will do their best to win the match and that would be massive boost for everyone."

Rutkiewicz simply can't wait for the cup tie and said: "I don't think he players to be over-awed. I expect them to have a nervous energy which hopefully they can channel into a really positive performance and result:"

Greig and Rutkiewicz meanwhile are going all out to keep Meadow in the top flight and ultimately be successful again.

The manager said: "Meadow are a massive club and I am excited about the challenge. I don't want to be the manager who is not in the Super Premier Division. We will do our best to get as many points as we can and drag everyone else into a dog fight."

Added former Scottish Championship winner Rutkiewicz: "We have 13 cup finals left in the league and nothing will be left to chance. It will be 100 per cent shoulder to the ore. We are coming here to keep this club in the Super Premier Division. In the long term we want to be winning games and trophies. I want to see passion, commitment and desire from the players."

Greig will consider strengthening the squad but will give everyone a chance. However defender Jamie Darroch left last week to join Port Glasgow.

Chairman Robert Jeffrey has welcomed Greig's appointment and said: "Davie was the standout candidate of all the people we spoke to. He has so much experience and has a real eye for a player. Hopefully Davie can turn things around."
