TROUBLED club Irvine Meadow could face closure, or be consigned to playing in the District League.

That was the stark warning from chairman Robert Jeffrey following meeting in the Social Club attended by more than 50 supporters on Sunday.

Now another meeting is being held in the Social Club on Sunday, March 20, at 1pm, at which proposals will be put forward for a share issue.

Jeffrey said: "Without the full support of the supporters and community, the club is facing a future of playing in the District League or, at worst, closing the gates.

"We are thankful for the attendance of the supporters at Sunday’s meeting but we need many, many more at the meeting in a fortnight’s time. It’s their club and so we need their input to secure its future."

Those attending heard that debt levels are unmanageable but a statutory debt management strategy was introduced in 2015 to freeze interest and charges and bring matters under control. However, the repayment has seen monthly outgoings increase beyond sustainable levels. Historical debt obligations when coupled with a continual reduction in footfall, a lack of support at fundraising events and an irregular seasonal distribution of home games compromise revenue generation and cash flow.

This shows no prospects of improving without radical action.

Potential investors have been sourced but their involvement is dependent upon the ongoing support of the community To allow investment,. the club need to change their Constitution, alter their legal formation and implement a share issue amongst fans, stakeholders and businesses.

However some exciting plans and ideas were put forward and Meadow hope with investment and support they will return to former glories.
