CLARK Drive Girls U13s turned in a great performance against a young Queen Of The South side in a League Cup game.

With six just girls having moved up from the 11s this season it was always going to be a challenge. They took an early lead through Josslyn Fletcher. Queens levelled but Aimee Taggart restored the lead with a cracking shot.

Drive scored twice more to lead 4-2 at half-time.

The Irvine side netted four more goals in the second half to win 8-2, although it was a closer game than the scoreline suggests and both teams can take great credit from their performances.

Meanwhile the U15s welcomed Ayr United for their final pre-season game at the weekend.

Clark Drive started off with Nicole Storie in goals for her first appearance in a blue jersey.

Early on they enjoyed good spells of of pressure and shots on goal. Ayr also had their chances and went ahead midway through the first half.

The second half started well for Drive as Storie switched back into centre midfield and worked well with Isla Burns.

And with Jemma Bruce scoring her first goal on her debut, quickly followed by a second, they were back in the game. The third goal came from Devon Cunningham and the fourth from Megan Armstrong to give Clark Drive a convincing victory.

Meanwhile it was a smashing day for football at the KSC Festival on Sunday for the Drive U9 and U11 teams.

Although the U11s were tight for numbers, they still fielded two teams and the girls played very well with no substitutes to give them a rest.

They always tried to play football in the proper way and scored some very well-worked goals. Their achilles heel continues to be the lack of a goalkeeper for either team. Any interested players can get in touch through the FB or Twitter pages.

The U9s fielded two teams of five with some great goals scored and superb goalkeeping. It was also encouraging to see three girls making their Drive debuts - Olivia Harvey, Eva Riddex and Bryony Calder. They all played well.

A special thanks goes to everyone who donated and contributed to the club's Race Night Fundraiser in Irvine Sports Club on Friday night.

It was a huge success and the total money raised for the event is just short of £3, 000 - an incredible amount and every single penny is appreciated. They now look forward to the next fundraiser - A Night with Sally Buxton- on March 31..

An extra special mention must go to club Chairman Jim Whyte, who celebrated his 60th birthday yesterday (Tuesday). All the best to Jim from the girls, Committee, parents and supporters at Clark Drive Girls FC.

Thanks also goes to Troon Ladies Circle for their very kind donation to the club of £100.
