TOP level American Football is coming to Irvine in the summer.

Irvine Meadow FC entered into an agreement on Monday night with West Coast Trojans American Football team to host their home games this season.

The Trojans play in the BAFANL National Division North and are returning to Ayrshire after playing some games at Portland Park a few seasons ago.

This is a welcome revenue stream for Meadow in the summer months.

There are 50 players in each team and attendances are between 150 and 300 and the games are popular family days with bouncy Castles for kids, burgers and hot dogs. There is also likely be a coaching session for children on a separate day.

The Trojans' home schedule is a five-game season starting on May 1 and ending on July 17.

Home fixtures:

Sunday May 1 v Yorkshire Rams (trying to re-schedule to July 10); Sunday June 5 v Gateshead Senators; Sunday June 26 v Clyde Valley Blackhawks; Sunday July 3 v Manchester Titans; Sunday July 17 v Edinburgh Wolves.

Should the Trojans top their Division they will enter into the playoffs with either one or two games. The quarter-finals are scheduled for August 7 and the semi-finals are on August 14.
