CASH-strapped Irvine Meadow FC are hoping supporters will turn out in force for a vital meeting to discuss the club's future on Sunday.

And they are calling on them to back fundraising events.

Drainage work is also being carried out on the pitch after the home clash with Glenafton Athletic was called off on Saturday as part of the pitch was too soft.

At the meeting, which is being held at the Social Club at 1pm, proposals will be put forward for a share issue which would see fans buying shares in the club to help reduce the debt.

The club said in a statement "Funding this season is currently our major challenge. Wet weather, recent problems with our pitch and postponements have meant that we have had one home league game and a share of six cup tie gates in six months.

" We have had one home game in 2016 and for the second month running no home games. We have carried out drainage work to resolve the pitch problem but this takes time to take effect. We are also re-turfing the affected area this week. The knock on effect is that league games that would have been played on a Saturday will be played midweek to lower crowds and much lower Social Club revenue.

"We have a follow up meeting this Sunday to discuss a potential Share Issue that will hopefully be supported by our supporters and the people of Irvine. Historic Debt issues have been addressed by a statutory debt management strategy and will affect our level of team funding for the next five years but our immediate concern is to get through this season. The Committee have a number of fund raising events in the next couple of months and are calling on fans to support them."
