UPBEAT Irvine Meadow co-boss Gareth Turner praised his side after they overcame District League side Ardeer Thistle in a friendly at Ardeer Stadium on Tuesday.
A first half penalty from Greg Vernon and second half goals from Phil Dolan and Graham Boyd gave the visitors a deserved 3-0 victory.
Turner told Sporttimes: "The pitch was bumpy and conditions were difficult with the wind but it was a good workout for us. I felt we passed the ball and played well at times.
"The game gave me an opportunity to give the squad a workout - we used 15 players and it was pleasing that our two strikers - Greg Vernon and Graham Boyd were on the scoresheet. It was good preparation for the weekend."
Saturday sees Meadow held to Greenfield Park to face on-form Shettleston.
Turner said: "Shettleston are one of the top sides and we have had them watched. But we will be looking for a positive result from the game. We will be looking for a positive result from the game. We will be looking to take the three points as we do in every game."
