WORRIED Kilwinning Rangers boss Chris Strain this week warned his side faced a "relegation dogfight".

He spoke out after Buffs slumped to bottom spot in the Super Premier Division following a 1-0 home defeat against Largs Thistle.

And striker Ian Cashmore also says his side must start picking up points.

Strain was disappointed with the result and display at Abbey Park and told Sporttimes on Monday night: "I was disappointed with the result and performance, especially in the second half when I felt we had a lack of drive and spirit. The supporters are getting restless and quite rightly after that performance. I spoke to the players tonight and we are in a relegation dog fight. It's the first bump in the road in my three years here. We face a fight for survival and must roll our sleeves up and work really hard. We are all in this together."

He added: "I fully believe we can stay in this league and we want to start moving up the table."

Looking ahead he said: "We have two important home games coming up against Arthurlie on Saturday and Troon and must look to win them. We have already beaten Arthurlie twice but this game is much more important."

Striker Cashmore, who won the Super Premier Division title with Buffs in 2003 said: "We were disappointed with the result although we missed some chances. We always knew it would be difficult in our first year back in the Premier Division but we must start picking up some wins and will be looking to beat Arthurlie."

Meanwhile Irvine Victoria boss Stevie Wilson has added to his squad by signing former Ardeer Thistle and Saltcoats Victoria George Bonner.

He will help fill the void left by the recent retiral of Stevie's brother David owing to a knee injury.

Vics on Saturday remained rooted to bottom spot in the Super First Division following a 3-1 loss at home to Renfrew.

Wilson said: "George has a lot of experience and that should help. I hope to add some more faces. We played well early on against Renfrew, went 1-0 up and created a lot of chances but could not take them."

The Westenders on Saturday host Petershill and Wilson said: "We are running out of games and must look to take three points."

Irvine Meadow boss Gareth Turner was disappointed not to take all three points at Shettleston, as they were held 1-1.

But he remains encouraged with their progress and said: "We were unlucky as we got our game plan spot on against Shettleston but were unlucky to concede a late goal. But have lost just once in the last 12 games and will be aiming to beat Cumbernauld. We won 3-0 there earlier in the season."
