TWO Irvine boxers have put their Scottish title fights, scheduled for next month, on hold.

Ryan Brawley was all set to take on Craig Kelly for the Scottish welterweight title at the Lagoon Centre in Paisley on March 3, while Ryan Collins was also rumoured to be fighting for the Scottish lightweight title on the same bill at one point.

However Brawley suffered a rib injury at work last week and pulled out, while Collins says he is not properly prepared but hopes to return to the ring in April.

Brawley said: "Unfortunately I have had to pull out my Scottish title fight on March 3 due to a rib injury. Hopefully I can get something sorted out once it heals. I'm not sure if it's broken or fractured and it's being looked into by the doctor. But I can't do any sparring or running so there's no way I would be ready for the fight. I'll get back to the gym as soon as I can. It's unfortunate as I was looking forward to it. I hope to get a couple of fights in before the end of the season and then hopefully I might have a shot at some kind of title in September. That's the aim."

Meanwhile Collins has been training in Marbella as he bids to get back into top shape.

He said: "The March 3 fight was too close with me not being in the gym owing to work. I am preparing for a fight hopefully in April. I have been training three times a day and had some top class sparring with the former Team GB captain Thomas Stalker. Things are coming together. You get what you put into this sport. "
